After a busy day of doing a little social networking, creating a dessert for the media, washing the car and doing household chores, (and don’t forget I have kids to manage too!), the last thing on my mind is to create another dessert to go with dinner for our guest tonight. I didn’t want to buy a dessert, not when I know how easy some are to create. Just takes a little discipline on my part to muster up the energy to make something on days like this.
Today I’m going to supply with you with a simple and wonderful cherry dessert of Crockpot Cherry Crisp. I like this recipe because it’s almost like cooking rather than baking. So what if you add a little more or less of this or that spice?? That’s the fun in it! So for you cooks out there, here’s a fun dessert for you!
Ingredients:
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
Directions:
Lightly grease the insides of the crockpot with butter. Place cherries in the crockpot. In a separate bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients together and mix in with vanilla. Then cut in the softened butter to the dry mixture. Sprinkle all over top of the cherries. Cook on low for 5 hours.
Ridiculously simple! And for the taste, wow! It was moist and the top had a perfect crunch to it. Perfect! Remember, don’t worry if you got a little too much of this or that. It’s all good in this recipe.
