I had you at Peanut Butter Cups, right? If you are like me, you are a sucker for the perfect blend of chocolate and peanut butter and have no shame in saying so.
What is it about those two flavors? Salt, sweet… yum. The bars have a dense devils food cake on the bottom layer, the easy cheesecake with chopped peanut butter cups in the middle layer, and the top layer is a ganache. Heaven in a bite…
I made these for Thanksgiving, but truth be told, they could fit for ANY occasion. When you do create this recipe, I encourage you to put a few bars off to the side for yourself, because the moment you put them out, they go fast, and you’ll want to have a bite too!
Let the sugar rush begin!!
Recipe: (courtesy of Picky Palate)
Bottom layer
- Box of Devils Food Cake mix (or dark chocolate)
- 1/2 cup of butter, softened
- 1 egg
Middle layer
- 1 block (8 oz.) of cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 10 Peanut Butter Cups, chopped into small bits
Top layer
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi sweet or dark is fine)
- 4 Tbsp. heavy cream
Method:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9×13 pan with foil, and spray foil with cooking spray. Mix the cake mix, the butter and egg together, and press it into the pan. This is a very dense dough like cake and is completely fine.
In a bowl, mix together the sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Add egg and mix again until smooth. Add peanut butter bits and mix with a spoon. Pour over top the chocolate layer in the pan and bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through. Remove from oven, and let the cake cool completely.

In a glass bowl, heat up the chocolate in the microwave until melted and mix together with heavy cream. Stir well until combined and pour over the top of the cooled cake. Spread ganache evenly around for a finished look. Let cake set up in the refrigerator.
Take the cake out by lifting from the foil, and then you are able to cut easily! Enjoy!

That just look so yummy! Your blog is going to make me fat : )
LOL Thanks!
