Award winning Apple Cobbler!

I heard your pleas for my recipe to the award winning apple cobbler last month.  Now to reveal of the secrets to this delicious dessert!  Thank you all for your support and patience!

Pennsylvania Dutch Apple Cobbler by Andrea Robson

3 cups granny smith apples
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 Tbsp flour
½ tsp. cinnamon
Pinch cloves
2 Tbsp butter
1 cup flour
2 Tbsp sugar
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1/3 cup shortening
3 Tbsp milk
1 egg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 8 x 8” pan, place thinly sliced apples. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cloves in separate bowl. Sprinkle over the apples. Dot with butter. In mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add shortening, milk, and egg. Stir with fork until completely mixed. Should be a heavy, dough-like consistency. Drop heavy dough by spoonfuls (or use your hands!) over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or heavy cream (if you want to go PA Dutch)!
